Role Summary: The Carbon Market Expert will spearhead the development and implementation of carbon projects aligned with recognized standards and support CRIM’s carbon market learning series and partnerships. The expert will lead specialized training and capacity-building programs and produce cutting-edge research and policy insights.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support technical advisory provision in developing& oversee carbon offset projects
- Guide certification and monitoring processes.
- Train partners on Article 6 mechanisms and carbon standards.
- Engage with buyers, registries, and verification bodies.
- Provide technical support for accessing carbon finance.
- Conduct training programs on carbon market systems.
- Lead structured carbon training courses and professional development workshops.
- Contribute to research, case studies, and policy briefs on carbon markets in East Africa.
Requirements:
- Master’s degree in Environmental Economics, Climate Finance, or related field (PhD desirable).
- Minimum 3 years in carbon market landscape.
- Expertise in voluntary and compliance carbon markets.
- Familiarity with East African carbon contexts and actors.
- Working or experience working with government, INGO, a reputable CSO or a carbon market standard operating in East Africa is an added advantage
