Testimonies of our Carbon market learning series participants

Inoussa Zagré Senior officer, Ministry of Environment, Burkina Faso

"Participating in the fellowship strengthened my capacity to support Burkina Faso's carbon market development. It deepened my understanding of Article 6 mechanisms and exposed me to real-world projects, enhancing my policy design and implementation skills at the Ministry of Environment"

Lilian Atugonza Economist, Ministry of Water and Environment, Uganda

"The fellowship deepened my understanding of carbon markets and project development. I’ve since applied this knowledge to improve project concept notes at Uganda’s Ministry of Water and Environment, strengthening our engagement in climate finance and carbon market opportunities."

Munubi Jeremiah District Forestry Officer, Ntoroko District Local Government, Uganda

"The fellowship strengthened my understanding of Uganda’s carbon market and global best practices. It enhanced my technical capacity to support district-level carbon projects, ensuring they align with national priorities for climate resilience and environmental conservation."

Nasradeen A. H. Gadallah Lecturer, Faculty of Forestry, University of Khartoum, Sudan

"The fellowship deepened my understanding of voluntary carbon projects and key concepts like baselines and additionality. It informed my research on woodland restoration in Sudan, where I now integrate carbon finance assessments and explore REDD+ pilots in dryland forests."

Julius Ssekyanzi Biomass Supervisor, National Forestry Authority, Uganda

"The fellowship deepened my understanding of carbon market frameworks, especially Plan Vivo and Verra. I’ve applied this in WWF projects and am developing a concept with Ecotrust and NFA to conserve an island forest reserve through carbon finance."

Flaviano Chikonyora Flaviano Chikonyora, Executive Officer, Zimbabwe Association of Dairy Farmers (ZADF), Zimbabwe
