Role Summary: The Climate Policy Expert will analyze, advise, and support the development of national and sub-national climate policies. This role ensures alignment with global frameworks such as the Paris Agreement and NDCs. The expert will lead climate policy training courses, provide tailored capacity-building, and produce high-impact publications and policy briefs.
Key Responsibilities:
- Analyze and draft climate policy documents.
- Support integration of climate change into national plans.
- Advise on policy instruments (e.g., incentives, regulations).
- Represent CRIM in policy dialogues and consultations.
- Provide policy training and awareness sessions to key stakeholders.
- Develop and deliver climate policy courses for public sector and CSOs.
- Publish policy briefs, white papers, and research articles on climate governance.
Requirements:
- Master’s degree in Public Policy, Climate Change Law, or related (PhD is a plus).
- At least 3 years of experience in climate governance.
- Familiarity with NDCs, Article 6, and UNFCCC processes.
- Experience with policy work in East Africa.
- Experience working with government, INGO, a reputable CSO or a carbon market standard operating in East Africa is an added advantage
