Climate Finance Expert

Role Summary: The Climate Finance Expert will lead and support institute’s technical advisory, capacity building, training and research services to our clients on accessing, managing, and reporting climate finance. This may include developing bankable climate finance proposals, advising on climate budget tagging etc. The expert will lead training programs, design tailored capacity-building modules and contribute to knowledge and policy products.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support development of climate finance proposals (e.g., GCF, AF, CIF).
  • Train stakeholders on climate finance access and compliance.
  • Advise on climate expenditure tracking and budget tagging.
  • Work with partners to mainstream finance strategies in projects.
  • Deliver capacity-building sessions on climate finance mechanisms.
  • Lead courses on climate finance for policy and practice audiences.
  • Produce research and policy briefs related to climate finance and investment.

Requirements:

  • Master’s degree in Finance, Economics, Environmental Policy, or related (PhD is a plus).
  • 3+ years in climate finance planning and implementation.
  • Knowledge of carbon pricing, fund architecture, and MRV.
  • Experience working with government, policy institutions, banking sector, and public finance institutions in East Africa is an added advantage.
